We invite you to come and explore the enchanting Aran Islands, described as “Ireland raised to the power of two.” Located just off the coast of western Ireland, about 30 miles from Galway, the Aran Islands—Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer are places of great peace and tranquility where you can touch the past and the spirit of Gaelic Ireland.

During our days in Ireland, we will photograph ancient stone fortresses/temples, Celtic religious sites, plus unique geologic and environmental wonders. We will be meeting and working with local historians, spiritual leaders and artists who will share the myths, culture and spirituality of the Arans and County Clare.

Doug will lead daily group discussions and facilitate critiques of works in progress. He will also spend time with each person developing and refining their personal approach to the subjects they find most compelling. This workshop is appropriate for photographers of all levels who have a working knowledge of their camera and a desire to visually explore the people, land and spirit of another culture. Patricia Delker from the Center for Photography at Madison, WI, and School of the Arts at Rhinelander, WI will accompany the group and handle the logistics and accommodations for the workshop. In addition to teaching photography, she has a deep passion for the divine feminine influence in Celtic spirituality.

Dates:

Wednesday, July 9 (travel day to Ireland)
Thursday, July 10 (meet at Shannon airport at noon)
Friday, July 18 (departures from Shannon airport)

Cost:

$1,975 ($300 deposit to hold a space). Balance due 30 days before departure.

Includes daily breakfast and 6 dinners, all bus and ferry transportation in Ireland, plus any entry or group activity fees. Does not include airfare to/from Shannon Airport.
