This workshop is a unique opportunity to look closely at your own creativity, develop ways to deepen your vision and find new paths or creative outlets for your photography. Doug will help you try and unlock barriers to your creativity and remove roadblocks from your old thinking patterns. With a smaller than normal maximum class size, we will explore the notion of what it means to be lost, directionless or stuck, and how this fertile ground can be used to explore who you are as an artist and reawaken what your photography is about and how you can use this new information to move your art or career forward.

Inspiration will be sparked by a balance of conversations, demos, portfolio reviews, writing exercises, shared readings, poetry and personal reflection. Photographic exercises will be a big part of this experience, with individual attention given. We will create a progressive and dynamic environment for learning and sharing. Fun, laughter and introspection are to be expected. Intensive class sessions will be held mornings and early afternoons with the rest of the afternoon open for hiking, soaking or personal exploration. Evening gatherings after dinner on most nights. Breitenbush Hot Springs is an amazing facility deep in the cedar forests and mountains near Mt. Hood, Oregon. There are natural Hot Springs available for soaking, a geothermal sauna, beautiful hiking trails, daily yoga classes and much more all included free with the workshop. Bodywork is also available for an additional fee.

This class may also be appropriate for artists of other disciplines who may want to 'cross-train' their artistic muscles using photography. Technical proficiency is not required—the emphasis will be on seeing rather than on equipment.
